About Us
Survivors of abuse. Witnesses to corruption. Warriors for change.
Two Voices One Fire is more than just a story—it’s a movement born from truth, survival, and a fight for justice.
We are Heather and Jessie, a mother and daughter who lived through—and escaped—a nightmare no one should ever face. Our journey spans over a decade of emotional abuse, systemic failure, and a relentless battle through the family court system. At the heart of it all is the truth we refused to let die in silence.
Jessie was only a child when she was pulled into a world of manipulation, fear, and betrayal. She found her voice through unimaginable pain. Heather, as her mother, fought tirelessly—not just against an abusive ex-husband, but against institutions that enabled the trauma. Together, we’ve navigated a maze of legal battles, survived threats and smear campaigns, and stood our ground in the face of power used to intimidate and control.
Now, we speak out. Our books—Out of the Fire: Finding Freedom After Abuse by Heather, and Raised in the Fire: My Story of Escape and Healing by Jessie—reveal the truth hidden behind the courtroom doors, the firehouse walls, and the badge of authority.
This site is a safe space for survivors, advocates, and those who believe the system can—and must—do better. We share our story to ignite change, give others the courage to speak up, and expose the broken systems that allow abuse to hide in plain sight.
We are not just telling our stories. We are reclaiming our voices. And we invite you to stand with us.

Our Story
For years, we lived under the control of a man who wore a badge and a uniform—someone trusted by the public, but dangerous behind closed doors. As a mother and daughter, we were manipulated, isolated, and emotionally abused in a world carefully constructed to look normal from the outside. What began as a love story quickly turned into a web of lies involving fabricated threats, staged emergencies, and a courtroom battleground where truth was often the last thing considered. The very systems that should have protected us—law enforcement, the fire department, family court—became tools used against us.
But we survived. We fought back with evidence, our voices, and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her daughter. Together, we exposed layers of corruption, legal misconduct, and psychological abuse. Our journey is told in two memoirs—Out of the Fire by Heather and Raised in the Fire by Jessie. These books are more than survival stories—they’re a call for accountability and a lifeline for anyone who feels trapped in the silence. We’re here to speak the truth, build a community, and demand change.
Meet The Authors

Heather Petit
I am a mother, advocate, and survivor who has spent the last 16 years navigating a life entangled in abuse, legal battles, and the fight to protect my children. After escaping an emotionally and psychologically abusive marriage to a firefighter with powerful connections, I endured years of court hearings, custody disputes, and betrayals by the very systems that were supposed to protect us. I’ve raised two daughters—Jessie, now an adult and a mother herself, and Hailey, my youngest, who continues to be my strength and inspiration as we rebuild our lives together. My story is one of survival, resilience, and the unshakable love of a mother determined to fight for the truth. Through Out of the Fire, I share our journey in the hope that it gives strength to others and sparks change in a system that too often fails the people who need it most.

Jessie Petit
I am a wife, mother of five, and survivor. My story began long before I had the words to tell it. As a child, I was manipulated into silence, separated from my family, and forced to endure a system that prioritized control over truth. At just 12 years old, I was sent away to a behavior modification facility under the false belief that I needed protection. In reality, I was being erased by someone who wanted full control. I spent years trying to make sense of the lies, the trauma, and the fear I was made to carry. Now, as an adult, I’ve reclaimed my voice and my identity. Raised in the Fire is my story—not just of what happened to me, but of how I broke free, healed, and found strength in becoming a mother, a wife, and a woman who refuses to be silenced. I speak out now so no other child is ever made to feel like I once did—powerless and unheard.
